Stipe Miocic defeats Daniel Cormier to reclaim UFC heavyweight title

(CNN) — Stipe Miocic defeated Daniel Cormier in the UFC 241 main event Saturday night to again become the heavyweight champion.
For many rounds it seemed like Miocic might lose his next successive fight against Cormier, the defending heavyweight champ. Cormier defeat him UFC 226 at July 2018, knocking him out at the initial round.
But this moment Miocic staged a comeback in the fourth round, bringing many body shots and right-handed blows to Cormier’s mind which ended in a knockout to recover the title.
“He is an incredible fighter,” Miocic mentioned of his opponent at a post-fight news conference. “He gets people feel uncomfortable in the slightest. He did for the first couple of weeks but I began to get my bearings right. I saw him slowing down and I thought,’Okaythis is where I take it today.'”
Before losing to Cormier this past year, Miocic, 35, had been the very first UFC heavyweight champion to defend the title three times.
Cormier, 40, the very first and only UFC fighter to defend titles in two weight classes, has hinted that Saturday’s struggle may be his last.
“Everybody asks about [retirement], but that is what happens when you turn 40,” Cormier told CNN on Thursday. “I feel good. I wanna get through this weekend, then I’ll sit with my family, and we’ll figure out what’s happening. It’s a true thing. Father time builds up to everybody.”
