Josh Navidi determined to take Rugby World Cup chance with Wales
Josh Navidi says hes determined to take advantage of his World Cup adventure after reflecting on hiscrazy journey into the Wales side.
The Cardiff Blues back-rower created his debut in 2013 for the side of Warren Gatland, but then had to wait for four years for his cap.
Navidi is a regular for Wales and will begin their pool match against Fiji on Wednesdayand this will see them eligible for the quarter-finals using a triumph.
Its been crazy, said Navidi. A month or two back I did take a step back and think about doing it. I wouldnt have believed you, In the event that youd said to me fours ago that Id be playing this World Cup.
It is nice to be here adopting it and taking the opportunity. Hopefully I can keep the jersey and continue playing.
It has gone . I know the jersey could be removed you fast, so that I just need to adopt it. Youve got to take it as possible and hold on to it as long as you are able to.
Gatland states the 28-year-old has been enquired concerning by a number of the coaches on the planet and is effusive in his praise for Navidi.
The head coach said:He runs hard, difficulty difficult, does the basics well and doesnt make many errors.
I remember talking to John Mitchell [England defence coach] after we played England in the home, and he said that the England boys have a good deal of esteem for him as an individual participant. That to me is recognition of quality.
A couple of years back – I believe that it was just one of Joshs initial games when we played the All Blacks – and – Steve Hansen said:where did you receive that number from?
We are extremely blessed in that department. Weve got some actual quality loose forwards who are all capable of doing a job, and theres some real rivalry.
